The European Union’s Next Generation subsidy schemes include various subsidies to promote the energy transition and the installation of renewable energy systems.
In Spain, the funding is awarded in the form of subsidies as part of the government’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, and each autonomous community is responsible for awarding the subsidies. Most of these subsidies are introduced through Royal Decree 477/2021 modified by Royal Decree 377/2022 for the residential sector.
These subsidies include the installation of aerothermal systems, such as Vaeron’s, which allow domestic hot water and heating to be generated efficiently and sustainably, thereby reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
This is to incentivise the use of clean and renewable energy to move towards a more sustainable society and to reduce dependency on fossil fuels.
Aerothermal installations in the residential sector are part of the ‘Incentives Programme 6’ which includes a subsidy of:
€500/kW of thermal energy (with a maximum subsidy of €3,000 per property).
The requirements to be able to access this subsidy in the residential sector include:
- Compliance with the RITE (Regulation for Thermal Installations in Buildings)
- Electrically operated heat pumps must comply with SPF>2.5
- Monitoring of the thermal output and electricity consumption.
*For the residential sector with installations of less than 70kW, only an electric and thermal meter calculating in real time is necessary.
We can apply these data to a practical example to see how the subsidy would be calculated.
For example, in an instance where a boiler is substituted with a Warmium P130 V1 aerothermal device for underfloor heating and DHW, the subsidy would consist of:
500€/kW x 13 kW = 6.500€ = 3.000 €/per property.
The subsidy would be €3,000 as this is the maximum amount per property.
